Rivers Network
IRN's Mekong
program has largely focussed on Laos, where until recently the pace of
dam-building was fastest. IRN has been following
individual dam projects in Laos, such as Nam
Leuk, Nam Theun-Hinboun
and Nam Theun 2, as
well as monitoring broader regional water resource developments, particularly
those funded by the Manila-based Asian
Development Bank.
The
Asian Development Bank is a
multilateral development finance institution dedicated to reducing poverty in
Asia and the Pacific. Established in 1966, ADB is now owned by 59
members, mostly from the region. ADB's
headquarters is in Manila. It has 19 other offices around the world. It has 14 resident
missions in Asia. ADB's staff
numbers about 2,000 employees from nearly 50 countries.
